- Description
- As a result of being the Ohio Music Teachers Association Composer of the Year, I was honored to have a commission for a new piece of my choice. Since I am close friends with the superb cellist Paul York, it seemed natural to write a new work for him and the amazing pianist Dror Biran—the York-Biran Duo.
The work is cast in three movements: slow, fast, slow, with the final movement being about half of the work in its slow organic unfolding of themes.
I completed the work in Cincinnati, Ohio between December 2012 and April, 2013.
